Robinhood (2025) – Story Overview
Robinhood is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and features a star-studded cast, including Vennela Kishore, Rajendra Prasad, Devdatta Nage, and Shine Tom Chacko. The film’s music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, while Sai Sriram handled cinematography.
The story revolves around Ram (Nithiin), an orphan who believes that all Indians are his family. Inspired by the legendary Robin Hood, he starts stealing from the wealthy to support his fellow orphans. Over the years, his small heists grow into large-scale operations, earning him a reputation as a modern-day Robin Hood. However, after a close call with the law, Ram chooses a different path and starts working at a security agency.
Meanwhile, in the remote village of Rudrakonda, a ruthless gangster named Swamy forces villagers into illegal cannabis cultivation. To execute his sinister plan, Swamy targets Neeru (Sreeleela), the daughter of a billionaire pharmaceutical tycoon, and lures her to India. Seeking protection, Neeru hires Ram’s security agency for her journey to Rudrakonda.
As Ram gets entangled in Neeru’s troubles, he must confront his past and battle the gangsters. Can Ram truly leave his Robin Hood persona behind? Or will he embrace his vigilante instincts to save Rudrakonda?
Robinhood Movie Review: What Works and What Doesn’t
What Works: Comedy and Performances
While Robinhood struggles in many areas, its comedic elements provide some relief. Rajendra Prasad and Vennela Kishore deliver witty one-liners and entertaining performances that keep the audience engaged. Their interactions with Nithiin bring light-hearted moments in an otherwise predictable screenplay.
Nithiin and Sreeleela put in decent performances. Nithiin comfortably fits into his role as Ram/Robinhood, and Sreeleela brings energy to her character. However, neither performance stands out due to the weak screenplay and lack of depth in character development.
The film also benefits from a visually appealing presentation. Cinematographer Sai Sriram captures the action sequences and village landscapes beautifully, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The background score by GV Prakash Kumar complements the film’s action-packed moments.
What Doesn’t Work: Weak Story and Outdated Formula
One of Robinhood‘s biggest flaws is its lack of originality. Director Venky Kudumula, known for Bheeshma and Chalo, attempts to merge the classic Robin Hood concept with a Telugu commercial entertainer but fails to bring anything new to the table. The film follows a predictable path with an outdated formula that has been used in numerous Telugu films before.
The screenplay is inconsistent, with several plot points left unresolved. For instance, the romantic arc between Nithiin and Sreeleela feels half-baked and abruptly abandoned. Similarly, the villain’s character development is weak, making the climax feel underwhelming.

One of the biggest promotional strategies for Robinhood was Australian cricketer David Warner’s cameo. Marketed as his grand acting debut, Warner’s actual screen time is disappointingly brief. He appears as the boss of the main antagonist, Swamy, in the film’s climax.
While Warner’s presence does generate laughs, thanks to his exaggerated dialogues like “Lollipops are red, David’s enemies are dead,” it feels more like an extended Instagram reel than a meaningful addition to the plot. Instead of adding weight to the villain’s character, his cameo serves as a gimmick that fails to elevate the film’s overall impact.

The Final Verdict: Is Robinhood Worth Watching?
Despite its promising premise, Robinhood falls short due to lazy storytelling and an outdated execution. While the comedy portions provide some entertainment, the film lacks the depth, suspense, and emotional connection needed to make it truly engaging.
For those looking for a lighthearted commercial entertainer with minimal expectations, Robinhood might be a one-time watch. However, for viewers hoping for a refreshing take on the Robin Hood legend, this film is a missed opportunity.
