How Did the Priests React?
The priests at Badrinath Dham did not take Urvashi’s claim lightly. They strongly condemned her statement, calling it “complete nonsense.”
One of the senior priests clarified that the temple she referred to is not dedicated to Urvashi Rautela. It is actually an ancient temple associated with Devi Sati, a revered goddess in Hindu mythology.
The priests explained that this temple is known as the Urvashi Temple but it has been named after a celestial nymph (Apsara) from Hindu mythology, not after the actress. The temple is considered one of the 108 Shakti Peethas and holds significant religious importance.
Priests Demand Action
Speaking to India Today, one of the priests said, “This is not her temple. Such claims are completely unacceptable, and the government should take strict action against people making such baseless statements.”
Amit Sati, the President of the Brahma Kapal Teerth Pujari Society, also condemned Urvashi’s comment. He said, “Such statements deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the devotees who visit Badrinath Dham every year. Urvashi Rautela must apologize for her irresponsible remark.”
About the Urvashi Temple
For those unfamiliar with the Urvashi Temple, it is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, specifically in Bamani Village, about one kilometer from Badrinath Dham.
Every year, thousands of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine of Badrinath make it a point to visit this temple as well. The temple has a rich mythological history and is believed to have connections with Devi Sati.
During the auspicious festival of Navratri, the temple holds special religious ceremonies and rituals. It’s an important spiritual site for many devotees, and locals hold it in high regard.
