Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi and actress Yami Gautam‘s ‘Haq‘ film has been demanded to be suspended even before its release. The film ‘Haq‘ is scheduled to hit the screens on November 7.
However, there has been a demand for an immediate suspension of the release of this film.
Shah Bano’s heirs have filed a petition in the Indore High Court. In this petition, they have demanded an immediate suspension of the release of the upcoming film.
In the petition filed through Adv. Tausif Warsi, Shah Bano’s family has claimed that the film ‘Haq’ is hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community. Apart from this, they have alleged that the film has wrongly portrayed Sharia law against women.
They have also said that the filmmakers have not taken any legal permission from Shah Bano’s heirs. In the petition, they have demanded an immediate stay on the release of the film.
As reported by India Today earlier, the makers of the film ‘Haq’ had already received a legal notice. The notice alleged that the film depicted Shah Bano’s personal life without the consent of her heirs. The notice also stated that the film has shown defamation and violation of personal and publicity rights.
Lawyer Tausif Warsi, appearing for Shah Bano, told India Today, “The film is about two hours long and shows Shah Bano’s personal life. However, it does not show the sequence of events. We do not know how she has been presented and how much emphasis has been placed on her personal life. Therefore, it is necessary to show the story and its concept of the film to Shah Bano’s legal heirs first.”
According to the filmmakers, the story of the film ‘Haq’ begins with a love story between a husband and wife, but later it turns into a discussion of a controversial issue that is still being discussed in society. The court proceedings in this film highlight policy issues such as the Uniform Civil Code under Article 44 of the Constitution.
