Aamir Khan Opposed a Key Scene in the Film

Indra Kumar recalled, “There was a scene in the film where Aamir’s character breaks a stick and then gets married. Aamir Khan did not approve of that scene. He told me, ‘Indu, you have gone mad. Who gets married by breaking a stool?’ We debated this from 9 AM to 1 PM. I explained to Aamir that people would applaud this scene, and my words turned out to be true.” The director also mentioned that Aamir has spoken about this incident in several interviews.

Aamir Khan’s Reflection on Bollywood’s Portrayal of Women

Aamir Khan has always been vocal about the way Bollywood portrays women in films. In an interview with Aaj Tak, he admitted feeling ashamed of certain lyrics from past films. He specifically criticized songs like Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai, Ladki Hai Ya Chhadi Hai, where women are compared to objects. He acknowledged that such representations were problematic and that he had been part of films promoting such narratives.

Aamir Khan & Indra Kumar’s Other Collaborations

Beyond Dil, Aamir Khan and Indra Kumar worked together on two other films, Ishq and Mann. While Ishq was another hit, Mann faced challenges during production. Indra Kumar shared that Aamir had concerns about Mann while shooting. “Aamir once told me that the film seemed to be going in a different direction. He was doubtful about the project, but I told him that we had discussed everything and needed to trust the process.”
