Boney Kapoor on Sridevi: Sridevi is known as one of the legendary actresses of Bollywood. Even today, many actors are seen talking about her work and her acting skills. Her husband, Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, also often makes statements about her.
He is seen sharing posts on social media and expressing his feelings.
Now Boney Kapoor recently gave an interview to Komal Nahata’s YouTube channel. In this interview, he shared some memories and stories of Sridevi. Along with this, he also revealed that Sridevi did not know Hindi language initially.
What did Boney Kapoor say?
Boney Kapoor said, “Sridevi did not know Hindi. Five-six of her Bollywood films were dubbed. But, she felt that the language was also affecting her acting. Her role was not reaching the audience effectively. So she learned Hindi. She used to have a Hindi teacher with her in the dubbing theatre. She started dubbing films in Hindi herself. She has dubbed the film Mom in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil. Such dedication is found in very few people.”
“Sridevi had reduced her own fee so that the film ‘Mom’ should have A. R. Rahman’s songs and could be paid the same amount, Boney Kapoor also revealed. During the shooting of the film ‘Mom’, we wanted to hire A. R. Rahman; but his fee was high. We could not afford that fee. We had set aside some amount for Sridevi’s fee. It was between 50-70 lakhs. But she told us not to give me the remaining fee. Instead, give A. R. Rahman’s fee from that money.”
” During the shooting of the film ‘Mom’, Sridevi refused to stay in the same room with Boney Kapoor. Explaining the reason, Boney Kapoor said, “We shot most of the film in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Later, we shot in Georgia. But, during that time, she and I never shared a room. “She told me that I didn’t want to be distracted. She was so dedicated to the character that she didn’t want to let the role of a wife in real life affect that character. She wanted to remain in the role of a mother in the film,” said Boney Kapoor, saying that Sridevi was very dedicated to her work.
Meanwhile, Sridevi passed away in 2018. Now her daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are seen working in films.
