Abir Gulaal Worldwide Release, India in Doubt
“Abir Gulaal,” starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, had its worldwide premiere on September 12, 2025. Fans outside India have already watched it in theaters, but Indian fans are still waiting. Earlier reports claimed the film was set for a big India release on September 26. Some movie sites and insiders even said it was confirmed. People got excited, hoping to finally see Fawad Khan on the big screen again.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) put out a tweet and official statement saying those reports were “fake.” According to the PIB, there’s no legal clearance for “Abir Gulaal” and the movie is not scheduled for release in India—at least for now.

The movie was originally planned to release on May 9, 2025, but was postponed after a terror attack in Pahalgam. Since then, there have been political tensions and a ban on Pakistani artists working in India. Many groups and industry bodies said they would not support or promote any movies with Pakistani talent, so the film’s India release has become a big question mark.
Even though “Abir Gulaal” has a strong Indian cast, popular producers, and music by Amit Trivedi, politics have gotten in the way. Some sources say there could be negotiations happening, but so far, there’s been no official change.
