Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, known for his intense performances, recently opened up about his experience filming Ground Zero in Kashmir, just days before the Pahalgam terror attack. The film, which revolves around the Border Security Force (BSF) and their operations, was shot in the region under tight security.
A Smooth-Sailing Shoot in Kashmir
In an exclusive interview, Hashmi described the shoot as “smooth-sailing”, emphasizing the hospitality and warmth he received from the locals.
> “We didn’t face any issues during the shoot. The people of Kashmir were incredibly welcoming, and the entire process was seamless. It’s a beautiful place, and I truly believe more films should be shot here,” he said.
Hashmi’s remarks came just days before the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed multiple lives and reignited concerns about security in the region.
The Importance of Filming in Kashmir
Despite the tragic incident, Hashmi remains optimistic about Bollywood’s presence in Kashmir. He believes that showcasing the Valley’s beauty through cinema can help change perceptions and encourage more filmmakers to explore the region.
> “Cinema has the power to reshape narratives. Kashmir is breathtaking, and it deserves to be seen on the big screen. I hope more filmmakers take the leap and bring their stories here,” he added.
Ground Zero: A Story Rooted in Reality
Ground Zero is based on true events, focusing on the BSF’s operations in Kashmir. Hashmi plays Narendra Nath Dubey, a BSF officer who led a critical mission against insurgents.
The film aims to highlight the challenges faced by security forces, while also shedding light on the human side of conflict.
Bollywood‘s Relationship with Kashmir
Over the years, Bollywood has had a complicated relationship with Kashmir. While films like Haider and Mission Kashmir have depicted the region’s struggles, security concerns have often deterred filmmakers from shooting there.
However, with projects like Ground Zero, there is renewed hope that Kashmir can become a thriving hub for cinema once again.
