You steal the movie Saiyaara story? Did you steal the story or take inspiration from it? Hollywood, not Irani.?

Is director Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ based on a stolen story? This question is currently a constant topic of discussion on social media. It is being alleged that ‘Saiyaara’ is a copy of the Korean language film ‘A Moment to Remember’, a very popular South .

But how true is this allegation? The special thing is that there has been no response from Mohit Suri to this question, and the writers of Saiyaara like Sankalp Sadan and Rohan Shankar have not yet given any reaction or answer. Sankalp is the story and screenwriter of this film, while Rohan Shankar has written the dialogues. Since the second day of the release of the film Saiyaara, the issue of copying the story of this film has been constantly raised. Still, the creative team of the film has not given any reaction.

Is ‘Saiyaara’ inspired or copied

Is ‘Saiyaara’ inspired or copied?

However, this case of story theft has no effect on the audience. The film is attracting people at the box office. The atmosphere in the theater seems to be emotional. Saiyaraa has become an inspiring film for today’s youth. The story of the film and the roles of Ahaan Pandey and have cast a unique spell on the hearts and minds of the youth. The love of a girl suffering from Alzheimer’s and a young man who is devoted to her has captivated people. This film is also being said to be the (second) DDLJ of today. It is also being believed that love and compassion can return to today’s films instead of cruelty due to the success of this film.

Is Saiyaraa a copy of A Moment to Remember?

Anyway, now let’s come to the main question. Is Saiyaraa a copy of the Korean film ‘A Moment to Remember’? If the answer is yes, then to what extent (is it a copy)? And how honest has our been in this copy culture? Let’s try to understand this. First of all, let’s see what are the similarities between Saiyyara and A Moment to Remember. A Moment to Remember was a Korean film released in 2004. It is a classic film from South Korea. But to be honest, this film was also inspired by the story of a Japanese TV . This means that there was a crisis of originality there too. However, at that time, this film had gained a lot of popularity in Korea as well as in Japan. Films were also made in Turkey and Malaysia taking inspiration from it.

That is, the story of a young woman suffering from Alzheimer’s was already a super hit. Therefore, the team of Saiyyara did not feel any risk in using that story in Hindi. After about twenty years, they might have thought that many people would have forgotten it while picking up this story. But that did not happen. As soon as Saiyyara was released, reactions started pouring in on social media. Notably, in early 2008, Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s film ‘You, Me and Hum’ depicted the story of a girl suffering from Alzheimer’s. Although the film was not much talked about, it did not cause much damage either. The film was directed by Ajay Devgn himself.

What do both the films have in common?

The director and writer have tried hard to make Saiyyara not look like a copy of the Korean film ‘A Moment to Remember’, but many scenes are the same and the twists in the story have also been kept the same. The female character in Saiyyara is named Vaani Batra and she is a journalist, writes poems and songs but she has a habit of forgetting, which means she has Alzheimer’s. She comes to know about this disease later. She often forgets to pick up the diary from where she keeps her songs. And this diary is always searched by her boyfriend, who is struggling to become a rock star. Seeing the she has written, he starts singing.

Something similar happens in the ‘A Moment to Remember’. A young woman named Suzanne buys a cold drink from a shop, but later she comes to know that she had given money to the shop owner but left the cold drink there. Such incidents happen to her not once but many times. Every time the cold drink or the purse falls into the hands of her boyfriend, and he comes to give it back.

In the movie ‘Saiyara’, it is shown that Vaani Batra (Anit Padda) gradually gets very close to singer Krish Kapoor (Ahan Pandey) and both of them start loving each other. But when Vaani meets a married man, she forgets Krish after meeting her ex-fiancé and expresses her desire to be with him. Many shots are taken here as they are. Vaani reacts in front of her ex-fiancé exactly the way Suzanne behaves in A Moment to Remember. Not only this, the way the girl (Vaani) hides her illness from her boyfriend in Saiyaara is also shown in ‘A Moment to Remember’. The ending of the film is also almost the same.

What is the difference between the two films?

While there are some similarities between Saiyara and A Moment to Remember, there are also some differences. The director and the writer have tried very cleverly to preserve the emotions with the female character. Suzanne’s character in ‘A Moment to Remember‘ has not been tampered with much. So Suzanne and Vaani are almost the same. But the of the hero in Saiyara is shown completely different from the hero in the Korean film. In the film ‘A Moment to Remember’, the hero is shown as an ordinary employee in Suzanne’s father’s company, who later becomes an architect. Whereas the hero in the film ‘Saiyara’ is shown struggling to become a rock star. He is a street singer and it is shown in the film that he wants to become a big rock star one day. Watch On A Moment to Remember.

We can say that the hero in the Korean film who wants to be an architect wants to be a rock star in Saiyara. Like the hero of A Moment to Remember, the hero in Saiyyara also supports his friend who is suffering from Alzheimer’s at every step and becomes her life partner. But Mohit Suri has made the role of the hero in Saiyyara a cocktail of Ranbir Kapoor’s rockstar and the male heroes of his own films ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villain’. Indeed, the director-writer of ‘Saiyyara’ has very cleverly given more importance to words and emotions in this film than films based on violence of today. People have liked this aspect of the film.

This film theft is called inspiration

Director Mohit Suri has benefited from this. Creative freedom is clearly visible in Saiyyara. By creating a love story with and poetry, Mohit Suri has shaken the new generation. This film has touched the emotions of today’s new generation, which is swept away by the wave of lighthearted emotions on social media. It is worth noting that director Mohit Suri has been accused of adapting the plots of foreign films before.
