Netflix’s Wednesday Gets Launch Date and New Characters

Fans of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday can finally mark their calendars—the highly anticipated second season is set to premiere in two parts. The first batch of episodes will arrive on August 6, 2025, followed by the second on September 3, 2025.

A Darker, More Horror-Focused Season

The upcoming season promises to be bolder and darker, shifting away from romance and diving deeper into horror elements. Jenna Ortega, who plays the iconic Wednesday Addams, has teased that the new episodes will explore more of her character’s eerie and unpredictable nature.

New Characters Joining the Cast

Season 2 introduces several new faces, including:

• Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, the new principal of Nevermore Academy
• Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump, Wednesday’s grandmother and closest ally
• Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, and Noah Taylor in undisclosed roles
• Lady Gaga, who is rumored to have a cameo appearance

Returning cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), and Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair).

What to Expect from Season 2

The new season follows Wednesday as she returns to Nevermore Academy, now under the leadership of Principal Barry Dort. Her little brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) also joins the school, described as an “outcast among outcasts”.

The teaser trailer, released on April 23, 2025, showcases Wednesday going through airport security, unloading a collection of weapons—including brass knuckles, knives, and Thing, the disembodied hand. The scene perfectly captures her signature dark humor and rebellious nature.

Why Netflix Is Splitting the Release

Netflix’s decision to split the season into two parts is likely a strategic move to retain subscribers and build anticipation. Given that Wednesday was the most-watched English-language series in Netflix history, expectations for Season 2 are sky-high.
