This actress was once a superstar of Bollywood. She was given the name Mystery Girl in Bollywood. She worked in many films like Woh Kaun Thi, Mere Mehboob, Mera Saaya. This actress lived alone for 20 years but when she died, no Bollywood artist was present at the funeral. Even her cousin, the actress, did not pay her last respects.
This actress is Sadhana Shivdasani. Sadhana’s uncle was an actor while her daughter, actress Babita, was also an actress. Inspired by them, Sadhana decided to pursue a career in acting. Sadhana was born in Karachi, Pakistan. She came to India during the partition in 1947. At that time, she was only 6 years old.
Sadhana’s father was a landlord in Karachi. Her father named Sadhana after the famous Bengali actress Sadhana Bose. When he came to India, he brought only a bag of clothes. After that, Sadhana took admission in a school in Mumbai. When she was 14 years old, she made her debut in cinema. Her first film was Shri 420. Raj Kapoor played the lead role in the film.
After this, Sadhana did not get work in any film for a long time. But in the meantime, she decided to complete her education. During this time, due to the poor situation at home, she accepted a job as a typist. While completing her education, she was also working. But later, due to the situation at home, she had to work.
In 1958, she got the film Abana. Many people liked her performance in this film and she started working in other films. She became a famous actress in Bollywood in the sixties. During this time, she worked in films like Woh Kaun Thi, Love in Shimla. But her personal life was full of problems.
Sadhana married R K Nayyar for love. But her family was against this marriage. Due to a misunderstanding, Babita and Sadhana also had a fight and they stopped talking to each other. Sadhana did not get married but she was busy in her married life. After her husband died in 1995, she became lonely. Due to hyperthyroidism, one of her eyes failed. She stopped leaving the house. During this time, she also got cancer.
She used to bleed constantly from her mouth. Her mouth surgery was also done in 2014. During this time, no one was with her. She used to vomit blood. In 2015, her health deteriorated. She developed fever. But she died during Asifar. She had asked many for financial help before her death but no one helped her. Not only that, no one came to the funeral either. Her sister Babita Kapoor, Karisma and Kareena’s mother, also did not attend.
