Rajesh Khanna is known as the first true superstar of Bollywood. He was an outsider who rose to fame almost overnight with his debut film, Aradhana. Thanks to a talent hunt contest, he earned a spot in the film industry and instantly became a household name. Aradhana remains a classic and a favorite for many Bollywood fans to this day.
While Rajesh Khanna became a legend, his daughters, unfortunately, couldn’t follow in his footsteps when it came to Bollywood success.
Rajesh Khanna had two daughters with his wife, actress Dimple Kapadia — Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna. Both tried their hands at acting, but neither managed to achieve the kind of stardom their father once enjoyed.
Twinkle Khanna: One Hit Wonder Turned Author
Twinkle Khanna had a brief career in Bollywood. She acted in a few films, with Baadshah being her only major success. Co-starring with Shah Rukh Khan, the film was a hit, but it didn’t manage to create a long-term career for Twinkle. Most of her other films failed to perform well at the box office.
Eventually, Twinkle decided to step away from acting and focus on other ventures. She married Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, and the couple now has two children, Aarav and Nitara.
Twinkle reinvented herself as a successful author and columnist. She has published several best-selling books and is admired for her wit and storytelling skills. She also works as a film producer and has found success behind the camera rather than in front of it.

Rinke Khanna: A Short and Forgettable Film Career
Rinke Khanna, Rajesh Khanna’s younger daughter, also tried her luck in Bollywood. She appeared in movies like Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Yeh Hai Jalwa, Jhankaar Beats, and Chameli. However, none of these films performed well, and her career never took off.
Unlike her sister, Rinke chose to stay away from the limelight. After a few failed films, she married London-based businessman Sameer Saran in 2003. The couple has two children and currently lives in London.
Sameer Saran was involved in the real estate business, with ventures in cities like Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. Today, he is settled in London and is reportedly worth over Rs. 250 crores. The couple maintains a low profile, and Rinke has stayed away from the entertainment industry ever since.
A Star Father, But Not Star Daughters
It’s interesting how two daughters of one of Bollywood’s most iconic stars couldn’t make a significant mark in the film industry. Twinkle and Rinke Khanna had the advantage of a famous last name and connections in the film world, yet they failed to become stars.
Twinkle managed to find her place in writing and production, building a new identity for herself. Rinke, on the other hand, chose to live a private and peaceful life away from the chaos of Bollywood.
Rajesh Khanna, despite his enormous fame, couldn’t pass on the same success to his daughters in Bollywood. Still, both daughters seem to be happy and successful in their personal lives, having carved out their own paths.

Not every star kid ends up becoming a star. The story of Twinkle and Rinke Khanna shows that fame and success in Bollywood depend on more than just a last name. While their father ruled the silver screen, his daughters found different paths for themselves.
Twinkle Khanna may not have conquered Bollywood, but she has earned respect as a writer and entrepreneur. Rinke Khanna may not be in the public eye, but she leads a comfortable and content life with her family abroad.
Their stories are a reminder that success can be defined in many ways, and sometimes, walking away from the limelight is the best decision one can make.
