Sushant Singh Rajput
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has released a major update on the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. After an extensive investigation lasting over four years, the agency has concluded that Sushant’s death was a case of suicide, not murder. Due to a lack of evidence supporting foul play, the CBI has closed the case and submitted a closure report in a Mumbai court.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020. The actor, who was at the peak of his career, was said to have ended his own life. However, the circumstances surrounding his death led to widespread speculation, with many believing that it was not a suicide but a planned murder. His case quickly became one of the most talked-about investigations in India, drawing attention from law enforcement agencies like the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The CBI took over the investigation after a massive public outcry and demands for justice from Sushant’s family, friends, and fans. Over the years, several angles were explored, including the drug connection, financial fraud, and professional rivalry. However, after a detailed probe, the CBI found no evidence of murder and officially ruled it as a case of suicide.
On March 2024, after 4 years and 4 months, the CBI submitted a closure report to the Mumbai court, stating that there was no foul play in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The report also clarified that there were no external injuries on his body except for the ligature marks caused by hanging.
Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was in a relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput, was one of the prime suspects in the case. Sushant’s family had accused her of financial fraud, mental harassment, and abetment of suicide.
In 2020, Rhea was arrested by the NCB in connection with the drug angle in the case. She spent almost a month in Byculla Jail before being granted bail. However, the CBI has now given Rhea and her family a clean chit, confirming that there was no evidence against them.
The closure of the case has once again sparked debates among Sushant’s fans and followers. While some believe that justice has been served, others continue to question the findings, calling for further investigation and transparency.
Many fans and celebrities took to social media to express their opinions, with hashtags like #JusticeForSushantSinghRajput and #SSRCaseClosed trending. Some are still unconvinced and believe that Sushant’s case deserves a fresh probe.
With the CBI officially closing the case, it seems unlikely that any further investigations will be conducted. However, Sushant’s family may still challenge the findings in court if they choose to do so.
As one of the most emotional and controversial cases in Bollywood history, Sushant Singh Rajput’s death remains a painful memory for his fans. While the official findings put an end to the legal battle, the debate around his untimely demise is far from over.
