In the early 60s, Rajendra Kumar started getting recognition in the Hindi film industry. Rajendra Kumar bought a bungalow on Carter Road in Mumbai from a director instead of taking the fee for one of his films.

His luck brightened after moving to this bungalow. The same happened to Rajesh Khanna. Not only this, Bharat Bhushan’s luck also shone from this bungalow. Later, all three of them also saw destruction in this bungalow.

Rajendra Kumar decided to buy this bungalow after doing films like ‘Mother India’ in 1957 and ‘Dhool Ka Phool’ in 1959. He bought this bungalow from the director in exchange for the fee for one film. At that time, people called this bungalow a ghost bungalow. But Rajendra Kumar named this bungalow ‘Dimple’ after his daughter and started living there after worshipping it.

This bungalow is built on Carter Road near the Arabian Sea. After coming to this bungalow, he worked in many big films like ‘Baiju Bawra’, ‘Mirza Ghalib’, ‘Gateway of India’, ‘Barsaat Ki Raat’. But within a few days of coming to this bungalow, his films started flopping, Bharat Bhushan’s stardom ended and he got into debt. After he sold this bungalow, this bungalow started looking like a ghost bungalow and people started considering it cursed.

In 1960, Rajendra Kumar came to know about this bungalow and bought it. After moving into the bungalow, Rajendra Kumar worked in many hit films in 1968-69. But soon his times started changing and his films also started flopping. He produced many films with his son, none of which became hits. After coming to this bungalow, he also faced financial crisis. Later, Rajendra Kumar sold this bungalow to Rajesh Khanna.

Rajesh Khanna also lost his stardom

Rajesh Khanna had made his mark by giving 15 consecutive hit films in the beginning of his career. There was talk at that time that Rajesh Khanna got this stardom because of buying this bungalow. This was the same bungalow that he had bought from Rajendra Kumar. Rajendra Kumar had sold this bungalow to Rajesh Khanna for 60 thousand rupees. Rajesh Khanna renamed this bungalow from ‘Dimple’ to ‘Aashirvaad’. After moving into this bungalow, he became a star. He also got married in this bungalow and this is where his stardom fell. According to media reports, this bungalow of Rajesh Khanna was bought by industrialist Shashi Karan Shetty for 90 crore rupees in 2014.
