Zubeen Garg: Zubeen Garg, the singer of the blockbuster hit song ‘Ya Ali’, passed away on September 19. The death of Assamese singer Zubeen has spread grief across the entire art world. He lost his life while scuba diving in Singapore.
He had gone to Singapore to perform at the 4th North East India Festival. His performance was on September 20. Many reports claimed that Zubeen was not wearing a life jacket while diving. This is the reason why he died. But Zubeen’s wife Garima Saikia has denied the cause of the accident during scuba diving. Garima has revealed the real reason for Zubeen’s death.
Speaking to the Times of India, Zubin’s wife Garima said that he had gone to an island in Singapore on a boat with seven or eight other people. Drummers Shekhar and Siddharth were also present with him. All the members of the group were wearing life jackets. But when Zubin went swimming again, he had a seizure. Garima said, “They were all swimming together. Then they came to the shore from this place. They all wore life jackets. But Zubin went swimming again and at the same time he had a seizure.”
Garima also said that this is not the first time that Zubin has had a seizure. He had experienced such an experience before, but later recovered. Zubin was kept in the ICU at the Singapore General Hospital for two hours. Zubin was one of the most popular and highest-grossing singers in Assam. He has recorded more than 40 songs in Assamese, Bengali, Hindi and Nepali languages.
The news of Zubeen’s death has left the art world in mourning. Zubeen’s fans had been gathering outside the Guwahati airport since Saturday night. Around midnight, when news spread that his body would be brought to Guwahati by a special flight from Delhi, the crowd broke two barricades and started running towards the airport terminal. Finally, the police had to lathicharge the crowd to bring the situation under control. Some people threw water bottles at the security personnel and tried to damage police vehicles.
